Someone once said that you have to put off being young until you can retire. Another famously asked, “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?”
Those are the attitudes and the outlooks of the people who’ve joined us in Retire United. They’re people who aren’t finished with anything. They have a lifetime of knowledge and experience and the energy and desire to put it all to use in new and exciting ways to help those in need.
If you’re one of them, we’re here to help you get connected: to provide you with new ways to use the skills you’ve already developed or proven ways to help you develop new skills. And to do it all to help improve the lives of others in your community.
You can help your community in ways that perhaps you’ve always envisioned, but never had the time for. We can connect you to fulfilling volunteer opportunities that align with your interests, passions, and skills. From helping children better their reading skills to helping file taxes for our neighbors in need, you can make a major impact by investing your time in our community.
NEVER STOP LEARNING
Not sure how you might want to get involved? United Way offers many ways for you to learn about the critical issues facing our communities and how you can get involved. From something as easy as signing up to receive our monthly newsletters, to joining a nonprofit board, to participating in a training seminar for a local nonprofit, you can help us strengthen our community impact work.
JOIN A NONPROFIT BOARD
Use your skills, professional expertise and knowledge to help fight for the Financial Stability and Educational Success of individuals, families, and children in need our community. Nonprofit organizations need talent like you on their board to help them address issues, solve problems and contribute ideas. You can make a lasting difference by adding a board leadership role into your retirement plans. Thinking about joining a board, check out our Board Connections workshop to get started.
CONTINUE YOUR ANNUAL GIFT
You may have given through your company’s campaign in the past but if you would like to continue your gift during retirement, there are options! Please contact Janet Collins for more information about how you can continue to give in a way that works best for you or you can give via a one-time payment or spread your donation out with monthly payments by signing up as a sustaining donor.
