This year – thanks to your generosity – we raised over $394,000 to support United Way’s vital COVID-19 recovery work and seed the growth of new social initiatives.  That includes $350,000  in sponsorships and over $44,400  from those at the event.

If you have already made a contribution, thank you. If not, please consider supporting the recovery of our community with a gift this season.

About the event

The annual PE/VC Leadership “Breakfast” is the premiere annual event for our industries.  For more than 25 years, hundreds of us – from the most influential leaders to the newest associates –  have joined together for a morning of high-powered networking and even higher-powered community impact.  We’ve raised more than $20 million since the Breakfast’s inception to support United Way’s work to help people and families in need.

The 27th Annual PE/VC Leadership Event featured an in-depth discussion on investing in COVID recovery featuring two of our field’s most prominent leaders, Dr. Tom Cahill of Newpath Partners and Paul Sagan of General Catalyst and board member at Moderna.

Dr. Cahill is the Founder and Managing Partner of Newpath Partners, a Boston based life science venture fund focused on building therapeutic companies around transformational scientific discoveries. Prior to Newpath, Dr. Cahill worked at Raptor Group where he helped further establish and lead the life-science and technology investment portfolio. Dr. Cahill received both his M.D. and Ph.D. from Duke University. His work has led to numerous peer-reviewed publications and awards. He continues to remain active in basic science research. Newpath is a founding investor in most of their life science companies and focuses on uniquely aligning interests between academic scientists, investors, and management teams. Dr. Cahill is directly involved as either a Director or Observer in the following companies: Myeloid Therapeutics, Prime Medicine, Kisbee Therapeutics, Kojin Therapeutics, Chroma Medicine, Exo Therapeutics, and Seventh Sense Biosystems. In addition, Dr. Cahill is involved with non-profit and non-partisan groups such as Scientists to Stop COVID-19 (STSC-19) and the Personal Genetics Education Project (pgEd).

27 years ago, the founders of the PE/VC Leadership Breakfast chose to stand with United Way because United Way had the proven ability to identify the most pressing local issues and create coordinated, unified responses to solving them.  Over the years, United Way has continually proven itself expert in generating resources from diverse groups of supporters and then quickly and efficiently deploying those resources through a network of frontline nonprofits to help those who need it most.  This year, that need is greater than it has ever been.  This year we need United Way – and you – more than ever before.  Please join us on December 11th.
