We are a strong, resourceful and resilient community. Now, more than ever, is the time for us to pull together and care for each other. Lynn’s Community Care Fund is mobilizing resources to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
DONATE NOW TO HELP PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY
The Lynn Community Care Fund, established by Lynn community leaders in partnership with United Way of Massachusetts Bay, will mobilize resources for expanded food and supply distribution and emergency assistance to households who are financially impacted, with a focus on those who are most economically vulnerable during the pandemic. This fund will deploy resources through nonprofit partners to prevent financial crises and displacement for the residents of our city.
The fund’s impact is being felt throughout the city of Lynn:
This will go a long way in covering our costs of product supply and prepared meals.I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank you and your team sufficiently. What you’ve done for our city is absolutely immeasurable, and I know that each and every resident who is fed and sheltered because of you and your support feels just as profoundly grateful as I do.
You’re amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
– Carolyn Cole, Lynn Cultural District
As COVID-19 reverberates across hospitals, offices, schools, and homes, many in Lynn are being impacted in ways they never imagined a month ago. Businesses who make up the backbone of our local economy have significantly reduced their hours or have been forced to close. People who are not paid if they are not working are trying to figure out how they will make ends meet. This fund was established to mobilize those who can give to do so, generously, in support of their neighbors.
HOW WILL THE LYNN COMMUNITY CARE FUND HELP?
At this time, this fund is not intended to support nonprofit capacity. It will rather focus on the basic needs of families. Priority will be given to those who are most economically vulnerable to this crisis. All donations will be collected by United Way and distributed by established Lynn nonprofit organizations with a track record of administering assistance funds. These funds will cover the costs of essential needs including, but not limited to, rent, food, utilities, childcare, medications, and other basic necessities.
