    Bain Capital volunteers will be reviewing applications and playing an active role in our new Venture Fund.

Through their leadership support, we have been able to continue vital programs such as DRIVE, Pay for Success, and our overall work.     2017 Highlights

    Bain Capital sponsored this year’s Thanksgiving Project Young professionals night to help support 50 young professionals pack over 6,500 Thanksgiving grocery bags for our local community.

  • Berkshire Partners

    Berkshire Partners is actively engaged as a firm in supporting United Way’s work within the community. Berkshire is proud to provide opportunities for highly motivated, bright young adults to work in a professional environment while learning valuable and transferable skills. Annually, they hold a Day of Service in the community.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts

    For more than 50 years, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA (BCBSMA) and United Way have partnered to create healthy, strong communities. Through their generous employee giving campaign, matching corporate dollars, volunteerism, and in-kind support, BCBSMA invested $950,000 in United Way’s work last year!

    Highlights

    This was a record-breaking year for the BCBSMA campaign—raising more than it ever has before!! Additionally, volunteers helped create 3,000 snack packs which were given to kids in after school and shelter programs.  In 2019, BCBSMA and United Way of Massachusetts Bay signed a first of its kind partnership agreement to deepen and solidify our joint commitment to helping families in our community!

    BNY Mellon is committed to enabling positive change in its community through philanthropic donations and social investments. Employees use their business skills and expertise to make an even greater impact, serving on the boards of local non-profits.

  • Brown Brothers Harriman

    Brown Brothers Harriman and United Way have been partners and pillars in the United Way community. Through thought leadership, a strong, multi-city employee giving campaign, corporate support, and volunteerism, BBH has helped United Way fulfill its mission, especially in the area of college readiness.

    2017 Highlights

    BBH has over 100 leadership donors in the Boston area alone and many donors sit on and lead key United Way committees including Tocqueville Society, the Campaign Cabinet, the Board of Directors, and Women United.

  • Deloitte

    Deloitte is a global United Way partner— raising over $1 million in the Greater Boston area alone! Deloitte is a true leader in United Way’s work— from launching our Women’s Leadership Breakfast 25 years ago, to holding Chair positions in multiple committees, and providing leadership and guidance on critical issues with UW.

They understand that all of us benefit when we stand side by side with the community around us – supporting its rich traditions and vibrant places, as well as the people who live and work in it.

  • Enterprise

    Enterprise Holdings is a longtime supporter of the United Way. Since 1969, when the company held its first employee supported United Way campaign, employees have continued to show their support. To date, contributions to local United Way chapters from employees, combined with the Foundation’s 50 percent employee match, total more than $300 million.

  • Eversource

    Eversource’s mission to deliver reliable energy and superior customer service includes their commitment to the strength of the communities they serve. Eversource and United Way have been partners for more than 50 years.  Through employee and corporate giving across Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Eversource raised almost $2M last year alone.  

    HIGHLIGHTS

    In 2018, Eversource’s corporate match helped United Way raise more than $60,000 on Giving Tuesday to benefit our Family Fund.  Eversource also helped United Way co-found the Greater Lawrence Relief Fund, which raised $200k for families affected by the gas explosions in September.

    In 2019, Eversource and United Way of Massachusetts Bay signed a first of its kind partnership agreement to deepen and solidify our joint commitment to helping families in our community!

  • EY

    EY and United Way have a nationwide partnership that helps raise over $600,000 in the Greater Boston area alone! Additionally, EY’s Day of Service gets 1,000 employees out in the community each fall— helping with projects like landscaping painting, reading to kids, creating literacy kits, and more!

    2018 Highlights

    Under the leadership of Jane Steinmetz, EY has been actively involved in our work through hands-on volunteering opportunities, Day of Service, and thought leadership.

  • GE Capital

    GE’s global vision for education, income, and health includes a long-term commitment to and investment in United Way.

  • John Hancock

    John Hancock’s partnership with United Way grew out of an employee giving campaign into project and program development, volunteerism, and board and committee leadership! Through employee giving and a match, John Hancock employees raise close to $800,000 for the community each year.

    2017 Highlights

    John Hancock’s support of United Way’s Board Connection has turned into a robust series of trainings for professionals to be on Boards! Additionally, John Hancock took the stage at or Women’s Leadership Breakfast!

  • National Grid

    The National Grid Foundation was created to enhance the quality of life across its grant making territory. The Foundation’s ongoing challenge is to create opportunities for solutions to educational and environmental issues. Its objective is based on the principle that giving people the tools to build hope is an essential ingredient in the development of individuals, families and communities. The National Grid Foundation has supported United Way’s efforts in this area for 13 years, bringing the total of its support to nearly $1.5 million.

    The National Grid Foundation awarded United Way of Mass Bay a $150,000 grant to provide emergency financial assistance to local families in need this winter, the organizations announced today.  The funds, which represent a $25,000 increase over last year and will allow United Way to serve additional communities, are being distributed through United Way’s Family Fund, which helps families across Eastern Massachusetts make ends meet by assisting with basic needs such as heating, food, and housing.

  • P&G Gillette

    Gillette is one of United Way’s $1,000,000+ partners! Through an energetic giving campaign, corporate match, in-kind donations, and volunteerism, Gillette is a partner through and through.

    2017 Highlights

    Gillette created over 1,000 bags of hygiene product into agencies in the community and had their first annual Day of Caring!

  • Partners Healthcare

    Partners Healthcare is a leader in the healthcare industry supporting our work to provide basic needs for local families. Under Dr. Torchiana’s leadership, employees from across the Partners system are encouraged to give back to the communities they serve, Collectively, the Partners system raises over $650k for the community each year.

    2017 Highlights

    Partners Healthcare, RIZE, and United Way partnered to host an educational series on the Opioid Crisis for our local agency partners and community members. Matt Fishman, our United Way Board member and leader at Partners spoke about the importance of breaking down the stigma associated with opioid issues and shared innovative and local resources for our agencies.

  • Putnam Investments

    Putnam Investments and United Way have partnered for over 20 years to create lasting change in the community. From cornhole, to gift baskets, ice cream socials, golf tournaments, and more, Putnam puts FUN back into the campaign! Employees at all levels in both Boston and Andover are passionate about volunteering and donating to our local partners. They attend our annual Golf Tournament and sponsor our Thanksgiving Project annually.

    2018 Highlights

    Putnam sponsored our Thanksgiving Project for $15,000 and brought over 25 volunteers to help pack over 7,500 bags for four hours! They are known in our office as the most committed, organized, and passionate volunteers. They also participate in our Thanksgiving Distribution Day!

    The Boston office also hosted their first-ever Spooky Trivia with United Way this year.

  • Ropes & Gray

    Ropes & Gray’s partnership with United Way has grown to be our largest firm supporter raising $500,000 annually across Boston, NYC, DC, and more. Through their passion for our work in providing basic needs and financial opportunity for local families, Ropes & Gray knows what it means to LIVE UNITED! They are supporters of our CITC program and are always looking for new, innovative ways to engage their associates.

    2018 Highlights

    This year, Christian Westra of Ropes & Gray hosted and sponsored a Venture Fund review for the Ropes & Gray Private Equity division as well as local P/E clients. After reviewing non profit applications, guests enjoyed a whiskey tasting and networking hour to learn more about United Way’s impact in the community.

  • Santander

    Santander and United Way have a nationwide campaign that raised over $200,000 for the Greater Boston Area alone! Santander’s support of United Way outside the campaign includes investment in our Pay for Success program, sponsorship of our Women’s Leadership Breakfast, and leadership at our Real Estate Breakfast.

    2017 Highlights

    Santander has taken a strong stance in work fighting homelessness— from thought leadership at our Homeless Census panel to investment in our Financial Opportunity Centers

  • Stop & Shop

    Stop & Shop has been recognized for its donations to community organizations and participation in United Way’s “Day of Caring,” a day dedicated to giving back with high school kids from area schools volunteering at local non-profit organizations.

  • UPS

    Since 1982, has invested 1.5 Billion dollars to local United Ways. UPSers support programs that ensure individuals and families have safe housing and ensure children enter school ready to learn. Employee volunteers have advised, reviewed, and scored funding applications; served on United Way Board task forces; advised on organizational policy and procedures.

    2018 Highlight

    UPS delivers more than packages! UPS delivers community impact by galvanizing and connecting a diverse set of individuals and institutions, and mobilizing resources, to create long-term change. UPS delivers community impact by supporting our Thanksgiving Project the past 20 years. UPS has sponsored, provided volunteers, equipment and the logistics to seved 16 United Way sites and over 7500 families with Thanksgiving meals. The Greater Lawrence Fire Relief efforts in the Merrimack Valley, UPS delivered over 300 bags of personal care supplies and hygene kits, donated by P&G Gillette in Andover.Delivered backpacks filled with books and literacy supplies to 45 child care centers to be distributed to 3 local sites servicing those in need! 43% of UPS Corporate donation is designated to our United Ways Summer Learning Collaborative, servicing 17 sites across 11 cities.

  • WilmerHale

    The Boston Business Journal has recognized WilmerHale as one of the “Top Charitable Contributors” in Massachusetts. WilmerHale is dedicated to strengthening its community partnerships nationally and within the Boston area.

    2018 Highlight

    WilmerHale kicked off this year’s campaign with a youth performance from United Way partner agency, West End House.
