Support for Students

In 2013, the City of Lynn faced a growing and immediate need: an increasing number of newcomers and MLs and lack of capacity to mobilize support within the district. Our program has grown since, expanding to Salem and Gloucester and leveraging existing relationships to meet emerging needs.

Silvie

From New American Center to refugee resettlement

“When I became an AmeriCorps member and started my service at NAC, I realized that more than anything, I was there to offer these kids a safe place. Somewhere where they felt accepted and heard and where the “outside world” would see whatever storm raged inside and ground them. This past year has been about healing and growth, both for me and the children I work with and while it's unfortunate that any of us have had to experience the horrors of conflict and displacement, I'm thankful I stood strong so I can help others just like me, find their path as well.”
