“Revere has always been a resilient city of hard working people who take care of each other. As we face unprecedented times, I ask our partners, residents and neighbors to rally together and please donate to help those in our community who are facing serious and urgent needs.” –Mayor Brian M. Arrigo
DONATE NOW TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY
The Raise Up Revere Fund, established by Mayor Brian Arrigo, focuses on meeting the immediate and long-term needs of Revere families and small businesses. In partnership with United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, the Fund will mobilize resources for emergency assistance to businesses and households most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
BACKGROUND
As COVID-19 reverberates across hospitals, businesses, schools, and homes, many in Revere are being impacted in ways they never imagined just a short time ago. Businesses who make up the backbone of our local economy have significantly reduced their hours or have been forced to close their doors. Children are no longer learning within the four walls of our school buildings. People who are not paid if they are not working are trying to figure out how they will make ends meet and feed their families. This fund will mobilize to offer assistance to Raise Up Revere and we ask those who can give to do so in support of Revere.
HOW WILL THE RAISE UP REVERE FUND HELP?
The effects of COVID-19 in Revere are deep and immediate, and the Raise Up Revere Fund will place its immediate focus on assisting Revere residents, people who work in Revere, and families with children receiving child care services in Revere or enrolled in Revere Public Schools who have been most affected by the pandemic. The fund will be flexible to respond as the needs of the community evolve. Immediate needs include but are not limited to housing, food insecurity, utilities support, internet connectivity for families with school-aged children, child care, and other basic needs as well as support for small businesses with a goal of getting people back to work in a safe environment. Priority will be given to those who are most economically vulnerable to this crisis and, in the coming weeks and months, we’ll be working with the United Way and other local human services agencies to provide deeper financial support to businesses, individuals and families in need.
