Year in Impact: Shared Services of Massachusetts
In the fall of 2017, we launched Shared Services MA. This alliance brings together early educators to consolidate purchasing power, access better vendors and share knowledge and experiences. A partnership with Great North Property Management Company provides significant savings on things like maintenance, insurance, waste disposal, heating, and even cell phone plans by tapping into their massive network and purchasing power (so a quality, affordable plumber is not more than a day away).
The program has been running in New Hampshire for several years, where some providers have saved up to $50,000 and report that are using those funds to create playgrounds, facility improvements, and increase professional development and staffing. Agencies in Cambridge and Somerville are currently using the program, and the plan is to expand throughout Massachusetts in the coming months.
