New England Patriots and United Way Team Up for Hometown Huddle
After a big win in Indy, New England Patriots players certainly deserved their day off Monday! But on about four hours of sleep, teammates Patrick Chung, Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon and Nate Ebner headed to Ellis Parks Early Education School in Mattapan to spend time with 3rd graders for the United Way/NFL Annual Hometown Huddle.
On the newly renovated playground and outdoor space renovated by United Way volunteers, the kids tested the New England Patriots skills in games of Four Square, Ga Ga Ball, Basketball, and more. Volunteers from Atlas Glen-Mor helped to install the new play equipment.
For more than 35 years, the National Football League has been working with United Way to strengthen America’s communities. Hometown Huddle, a league-wide day of service, involves NFL teams across the country participating in a variety of youth fitness projects on the same day. This year, 20 NFL teams joined United Ways for special Play60 projects.
