United Way volunteer teams spent National Volunteer Week transforming the Egleston YMCA
Thanks to more than 100 United Way volunteers who spent National Volunteer Week (April 11-17) completing several projects to help transform the Egleston YMCA, kids came back from their spring school vacation last week to a seemingly brand new community space.
The makeover, which included painting 3 rooms, installing new floors, building a wall, and making shelves and shoe racks, was a true team effort. The team included skilled volunteers from Gilbane Building Company, United Way’s Community Builders, and Leadership donor families who spent an evening putting together bookshelves for the space.
The project was also possible thanks to a grant from Depend (a brand of Kimberly-Clark), who is partnering with United Way to promote healthy, active and independent living throughout an individual’s life, with a focus on volunteering.
