A networking lunch will be followed by a community conversation and the design challenge. Participants will join in groups of 8-10 with representatives from Boston families, the community, the school department, nonprofits, and city and state government to share ideas and tackle a hands-on design challenge as together we address the question, “How do we ignite youth interest in science, technology, engineering, and math?” BoSTEM will consider promising ideas gleaned from this initiative for future collaborative implementation.

Engaging these diverse perspectives from across the community, we hope to strengthen the BoSTEM network and ensure that our work going forward is student-centered, equitable and culturally responsive.

The Community Design Challenge is part of STEAMfest, a day-long event connecting Boston families to after-school STEM programs and gathering the STEM community and stakeholders to spark a more diverse next generation of Boston STEM professionals.
