For those in poverty, United Way’s Financial Stability Centers offer a way out.
In communities that need help the most, for families and individuals on the edge of financial ruin, United Way’s Financial Stability Centers are a beacon of hope. Utilizing the latest research and a proven service model, these Centers provides comprehensive financial supports with one goal: to achieve life-altering change that lasts.
With six locations in communities facing high poverty rates (Chelsea, Lawrence, Lynn, Quincy, Roxbury, and Downtown Boston), the Centers bring together a host of services from multiple partner organizations, conveniently, under one roof.
Research shows that clients benefiting from this center-based approach and coaching are far more likely to achieve a major financial stability outcome such as increasing income, net worth or credit scores.
In 2015, the six Centers will provide intensive services to over 1,200 people throughout Greater Boston. In addition, more than 3,300 people will receive free tax preparation help, which is expected to return more than $6 million in tax refunds and $2.1 million in Earned Income Tax Credit benefits to these communities.
